The portions where raps first take place in a wasteland with thorny vines sprouting out of the ground, surrounding him and shattering into dust, (first verse) and then grass and plants sprouting up around him (second verse).
During the time Mike raps his verses, Chester stands atop a platform with gargoyles on the edges. This platform is in front of a door in the shape of a trapezoid. Near the end of the video, the skies turn dark and it begins to rain, and the band performs in the downpour until the end of the song, where the rain stops and the camera pans away from the tower, showing the wasteland where Shinoda had rapped in is now a lush Greenland.

The whale could be identified as a 'space whale' which takes the concept that life (or time) is too short for one to absorb all its mass surroundings. The whale also makes a brief appearance in the music video for '. Although there is a keyboard loop in this song, the video does not show Mike, who is a pianist in the group, or anyone else playing a keyboard in any scene of the video. A Thousand Suns (2010) Warner Bros. Top Linkin Park Albums
Though there are several memorable songs on the record (the drum-driven rap When They Come for Me is a particular delight), the band so often shoots for profound but ends up coming off cloying and overly sentimental. They should be praised for their ambitious attempt at trying something different, but this one divided the fanbase with damn good reason: it's only a half-successful reinvention.

Linkin Park's second album 'Meteora' was released 15 years ago today (March 25). But is it their best album? But is it their best album? Rock Sound staffer Jack Rogers is adament.
There could be examples for why every album is their best. Hybrid Theory was by far their most successful album.
There is not a single weak track on the album. They had years before to hone and perfect those songs. Mike and Chester complimented each other well, and Mikes lyrics were on point.
Meteora proved they weren't a one hit wonder. It was essentially a second hybrid theory, with a little different sound. Sophomore album is a big one, pressure wise. Meteora, like Hybrid Theory, was a strong front to back album. There were hints of experimentation, Breaking the Habit comes to mind, and they had something to prove.
Minutes to Midnight was Linkin Park all grown up. Ditching that nu metal vibe, at the perfect time. The first album to be classified explicit, and showed the world they could make music that wasn't made for radio. They really changed with different lyrics, moving away from the me you talk of the first two albums and even went political. A Thousand Suns was one step further. An album on itunes that could be bought as one coherent song. More experimental, more electronic, even further away from their initial roots.
I think Mike had the worst rapping lyrics of his career on this album, and it's the first album with songs I actively don't like. I have a lot of respect for this album though, watching the making of video showed Mike went HAM working on the album. Living Things is different. I think they had the least amount of pressure making this album than any previous album. They proved they could perfect their initial sound, and also that they could be successful away from it. It was folk inspired, also electronic, and they used everything they've learned along the way.
I'll contradict what said and say that I think their best album is Minutes to Midnight. First album to not follow a formula.
Best Linkin Park Album
They took a hiatus for a little bit from touring, while Mike was in Fort Minor. They demoed over 100 songs, it had all types of sounds. From the epic The Little Things Give You Away, to that incredibly heavy Given Up. Mike rocked his raps in Hands Held High and Bleed it Out, and sung for the first time in In Between. I think it was the best because it was their first real leap into a different style of music.
A Thousands Suns: This one divided a lot of people, but I really respected that the band dared to go in this direction and believe it is their best work. I think the consensus is the niche LP fans that wanted something different from the band liked it, the Hybrid Theory fans were mixed, and the casual LP 'What I've Done/Transformers' fans hated it. Meteora/Hybrid Theory: No denying they nailed the formula down for these 2 albums. Very juvenile lyrics listening to it now, but my god, it's still damn catchy. Minutes to Midnight: Early experimentation with less rapping from Mike.
I liked most of the album, especially The Little Things Give you Away. At this point, I think the whole numetal thing was getting played out like how EDM is now, so they tried to do an alternative rock album to keep themselves from drowning with the genre (smart move). Living Things: Absolutely awful! A real shit sandwich. Aside from Lost in the Echo, the rest of the album sounded like a bunch of B-sides they threw together. Next Album: Guilty All the Same sounds promising and it's what I've wanted to hear from them years ago during the MtM era.
Very QWERTY-ish. Rob's drumming is better, Brad's solos are better. The only thing I want to hear from them that they've never done, is hear some real damn basslines from Phoenix! I think that is the one missing texture that they've never played around with in their songs.
Vba Serial Port Mscomm
I have a spreadsheet I originally created in Excel 2003 which used the MSCOMM control to read data sent to the serial port.When I upgraded to Excel 2007 this spreadsheet still worked fine. Lately our IT installed some updates on my computer and now this spreadsheet cannot use the MSCOMM control. I get the message, 'Can't exit design mode because control 'MSCOMM1' cannot be created'.An ideas of why an update to the OS would break a spreadsheet? My OS is Windows XP Pro.

Vba Open Serial Port
After installing your project on another machine - copy the.reg file over and double click it. A couple of warning dialogs will appear explaining the scary things that can happen when making changes to the registry, but the line will be altered and MSCOMM will be available on the other machine as well.
I don't know about programming to it on the other machine (licensing issues have always been vague regarding using MSCOMM with VBA since it only shipped with FoxPRo and VB) but it can be called and used by your project provided of course that you have installed mscomm32.ocx on the second machine and registered it there as well. The.reg file will provide you with a way to quickly fix the problem if your IT department pushes out another update and IE bans the ActiveX control again.Once upon a time I wrote an extensive FAQ regarding MSCOMM.
It has been removed from Tek-Tips. I think the issue was that I addressed the licensing issue and provided a workaround that may have been deemed illegal. I've interfaced several minor pieces of lab equipment (balances, titrators) through Excel. Sometimes the vendors provide software but usually it has way more bells and whistles than one needs for routine measurements.I even interfaced a 20-year old spectrometer which originally ran in DOS.
When our last Win95 computer went belly up, the DOS program would no longer run reliably in the command prompt window for newer OSs. MSCOMM, VBA and Excel allowed me to keep the instrument running.

I may stick to the WindowsAPI version of the solution since it isn't affected by the registry change but it is more cumbersome than MSCOMM.Thanks anyway about the tip about the compatiblity flag.I thought about possibly editing the security settings in IE, but those are disabled on my computer. I'm not even sure how I would make my computer a trusted zone.P.S. The PortMonitor site says it contains Malware on my McAfee sitemonitor program. I wonder why?
